ExpressView: Sorting (v2021.1+)

Data can be ordered by applying sorts to the columns of the ExpressView.

Report Types

There are five different report types available in the reporting application. Four are standalone types, and two are composite types which combine reports together.

ExpressView: Formula Columns

Formulas can be used to create custom data columns in ExpressView. Formulas are calculated once per each row, based on the other data values in that row. For each row calculation, a formula value is returned for that row, which populate a new column of data. This article applies to versions of the application released prior to v2021.1.

ExpressView: Introduction (v2021.1+)

ExpressView is a report building tool that combines grouping, sorting, filtering, and summarizing data with a drag-and-drop interface. A chart can be added with a single click, and the entire report can be exported as PDF, RTF, CSV, or an Excel workbook.

Incremental Loading

Incremental loading limits the amount of data that is returned for each database query. This allows users to load reports incrementally, starting with a small set of rows and adding more in steps as desired. Incremental loading can shorten the amount of time it takes a report to load and be usable. It can also help reduce continuous load on a database which may improve load balancing performance.

ExpressView: Grouping (v2021.1+)

Data may be organized in up to seven hierarchical groups. Groups nest inside of each other and establish a "for each" hierarchy.

ExpressView: Grouping and Summarizing data

Grouping a column of data breaks up the rows into sections which share a common trait. Each iteration of a group is a unique row in a data column. Grouping data allows you to easily identify rows with common factors. This article applies to versions of the application released prior to v2021.1.

ExpressView: Formula Columns (v2021.1+)

In addition to using the data fields that are available in the Data Objects Pane, formulas may be added as custom formula columns. Formulas may contain data objects, parameters and functions. Just like standard columns, a formula column may be either a detail field or group, and may be included in visualizations, formatted, sorted and filtered.

ExpressView: Filtering (v2021.1)

To show only data that matches certain criteria, filters can be added. Filters can also improve performance by only including relevant information. There are two kinds of filters that may be applied to an ExpressView: Standard and Top/Bottom.

ExpressView: Aggregating/Summarizing Data (v2021.1+)

Aggregating leverages the power of ExpressView groups to compile summaries of data. Aggregates may be optionally added for each group and for the entire report.

ExpressView: Exporting (v2021.1+)

ExpressViews are an easy way to display and visualize data. Exporting an ExpressView allows the contents of the report to be saved externally as either a PDF, Excel, RTF or CSV file, or as an Advanced Report.
