Advanced Reports: Report Designer (pre-2021.1)

The Report Designer is the main editor for Advanced and CrossTab Reports. This article applies to versions of the application released before v2021.1.

No Data Qualified Options

If the data source returns zero rows, the message below is automatically generated, and report execution will end. This condition is called No Data Qualified or NDQ. There are a number of ways to handle or prevent this situation: Enabling filter dependency can prevent improper filter ...

Navigating the Application

Learn about the different parts of the user interface, how to create new reports, find existing ones and get around in the application.

Advanced Reports: Joins

Joins describe how the Data Objects on a report are related to each other. When two objects are joined, a field in the first object is associated with a field in the second object. Wherever a value in the first object's field matches a value in the second object's field, that value's rows from each object come together to form a composite row. The table produced by all the composite rows is the resulting data that appears on the report.

Advanced Reports: CrossTabs

Use a CrossTab, or cross tabulation, for grouping and summarizing data fields that expands vertically and horizontally depending on the number of data groupings. CrossTabs are also known as two-way tables, contingency tables, or pivot tables.

Advanced Reports: Data Objects (v2021.1+)

A data object is a container for reportable information from a source of data. When creating a new Advanced Report, data objects will be added to the report with the Add Data Objects dialog, which will appears when launched for the first time.

Dealing with Duplicate Values

If a report has unexpected duplicate values or empty rows, the cause is most likely that there is a one-to-many join to an object not being used.

Advanced Reports: Design Grid (pre-2021.1)

Use the Design Grid to build the layout of the report. This article applies to versions of the application released before v2021.1.

Advanced Reports: Design Grid (v2021.1+)

The Design Grid is main interaction point of the Advanced Report Designer. Use the Design Grid to define the layout of the report by adding, altering and deleting rows, columns, and sections to it; and to define the content of the report by entering data fields, text, labels, formulas, images, charts, CrossTabs and maps to it.

Display Page Numbers

How to add page numbers to a report.

Error Message Glossary

This article serves as a glossary of error messages that may be displayed during the configuration or use of Exago BI. A list of potential causes and remedies is also included.

Filters

Filters narrow the scope of reports by restricting the data by specified criteria.

Group Min/Max Filters

Group Min/Max Filters cause the report output to display detail containing either the highest/latest or lowest/earliest values in a field for either one group, multiple groups, or an entire data set.

Incremental Loading

Incremental loading limits the amount of data that is returned for each database query. This allows users to load reports incrementally, starting with a small set of rows and adding more in steps as desired. Incremental loading can shorten the amount of time it takes a report to load and be usable. It can also help reduce continuous load on a database which may improve load balancing performance.

Actionable UI Elements

Certain items in the Report Designers can trigger Action Events to take certain actions outside of the default ExagoBI behavior.

Chained Reports

Chained Reports combine multiple reports into a single multi-page document. They are a convenient way to bundle related reports into a format suitable for printing or sending to a mailing list.

Cell Formatting

Use the Report Designer's Format Cells dialog to customize how data values will display, add custom cell borders, and apply formatting based on certain conditions.

Advanced Reports: Categories (pre-2021.1)

Use the Categories window to select which data to use on the report. This articles applies to versions of the application released before v2021.1.
